Return to Australia
After a really frustrating day we were really glad of some life as normal. After our only success of the day (we couldn't even manage to find a nice, non sporty sun hat in Hervey Bay)we headed for some groceries and for home.
Once again the supermarket of choice was Woolworths - and this time we treated ourselves to one of the green canvas bags that seem to mark out backpackers. We had to join the club - plus we thought it would be a long walk back to our room and plastic carriers really do cut into your hands after a while.
The facilites at the Woolshed were fab. A lovelly big sitting area, dining tables, easy to use kitchen, and all really rustic. The cooker was a heavy duty camping kind, you had to boil the kettle for hot water, but there was everything you needed, plus a log burner in the corner to keep the place warm. And television - same old stuff as in the UK, news and Simpsons, but it was really comforting. Perhaps the thing that made it feel more like home was the fact that we seemed to be the only people there. So we snuggled into the comfy chairs in front of the television until the log burner died down, the temperature dropped and we had to go to bed. Another early night ahead of us - at least there was no question of us having to fight for the bathroom in the morning.
