The basic plan is to take enough clothes to last for a week, making sure that every item can be worn in combination with any other, thus basic colours (white, black and cream) are dominant with a couple of items in a favourite colour.

Who would ever have thought that there was such an exact science to packing? Going by the amount of articles, web sites and tips we managed to find on the subject it obviously takes a lot of trial and error to perfect.

Packing clothes also seems to be a science, some people like to fold, some roll, some pack into solid boxes to avoid crumpling, some choose fabrics that do not crease to avoid the issues. There are many different theories, check them out...

Once you've decided what you need to take (need - so not the kitchen sink), you're going to need something to put it all in, that will take it all. Is this a chicken and the egg question though - do you buy a bag to fit your stuff, or fit your stuff into a bag?
