Return to Travelogues
So far we have given up what many would call good jobs, sold our house and moved back in temporarily with our parents. Why are we doing this?
Given that we have never really travelled extensively, or for any significant period of time, now seems the ideal time. We are convinced that the experience will increase our employment prospects on returning rather than reduce them, and provide a quality of vocational experience through our internships that we could never have achieved in the UK. More importantly this is an opportunity to meet new cultures, see new things, sample new foods, try new sports and perhaps make a few friends along the way.
In some respects it feels as if the hardest decisions have all been made now, but we are starting to get anxious about the trip; is it all going to be worth it?, are we doing the right thing? will we have enough money?, are we going to get along with each other 24/7? have we got everything we need?
Logic tells us that we have the important bits sorted, flights, first stop, insurance, medical stuff and that anything we haven't got we can get in our first couple of destinations so there is no need to worry, but still...
At the moment the question on our parents lips is will we come back? Yet we can't even comprehend the fact we're going!
